Vedic Hymns

The Dāśarājñá is described in three hymns of the Rigveda's seventh maṇḍala, attributed to the seer Vasiṣṭha. Below are the primary hymns with transliteration, translation, and variant readings.

RV 7.18

The principal account — lists the confederate kings, the rivers involved, and Indra's intervention on behalf of Sudās.

RV 7.33

The Vasiṣṭha hymn — connects the Bharata victory to the priestly patronage of Vasiṣṭha.

RV 7.83

Attributes the victory to Indra and Varuṇa jointly.
